The Merlin Microseal™ Septum is a long-life replacement for the standard septum on the Capillary Inlet System or the Purged-Packed Inlet System of Agilent gas chromatographs (not useable with the non-purged packed column inlet system). The Merlin Microseal is a patented dual-seal inlet assembly featuring an O-ring and "duckbill" seal. Because the syringe needle does not pierce any septum material, seal lifetime is typically greater than one year with normal GC use. Complete Kit includes the nut, two Microseal septa, and a PTFE liner. For inlet pressures up to 30psi. (For pressures up to 100psi, see #238006.)

Instrument Compatibility: The Merlin Microseal system can be used manually with Agilent / HP 5700, 5830, 5840, 5880, 5890, 5890 Series II and 6890 gas chromatographs. However, for autosampler use it is compatible only with the Agilent 7673 / 7683.

Syringe Compatibility: The Merlin Microseal Septum should be used only with a blunt-tipped, 0.63 mm diameter (0.025", 23 gauge) syringe needle. This type has been recommended for use with HP 7673 autosamplers for years, and is also available in manual syringes. Sharp-pointed or sharp-edged needles should not be used as they may slice or pierce the seals.
