Available in bulk quantities. Tenax® is a porous polymer based on 2,6-diphenyl-p-phenylene oxide, used both as a column packing material and for trapping volatiles and organics. It is especially suited for high boiling liquids because of its thermal stability; the maximum temperature limit is 375°C. Tenax® is an excellent trapping material since it efficiently adsorbs volatiles at room temperature, and efficiently desorbs the same materials at 300°C. Surface area 35m2/g. Tenax can be employed for the collection and desorption of volatile substances with molecular weights ranging up to several hundred, making it ideal for trace analysis of biologically important volatiles and air pollutants. Requires preconditioning.
