Tenax® is a porous polymer based on 2, 6-diphenyl-p-phenylene oxide, used both as a column packing material and for trapping volatiles and organics. It is especially suited for high boiling liquids because of its thermal stability; the maximum temperature limit is 375° Tenax is an excellent trapping material since it adsorbs volatiles at room temperature, and efficiently desorbs the same materials at 300°C. Surface area is 35m2/g. Requires pre-conditioning by baking under inert gas flow.
